皆さんは人の顔を見るとき、どこが気になりますか？
私は、口もとが気になります。
もう20年以上前になりますが、ある衆議院議員の公設秘書の方から
「人の生き様はね、口にどうしようもなく出てしまうものなのよ」
と教えていただいたのがきっかけでした。
おとなの顔は履歴書、などとよく言いますが、
それは本当で、顔というのは、実に雄弁です。
苦難を乗り越えてきた人の顔、自分に嘘をついてきた人の顔、他人を蹴落としてきた人の顔、ささやかな喜びに感謝してきた人の顔、ぶれない自分軸を宿した人の顔・・・
だれかに会った時、人は話す前からそれぞれ相手に何らかの印象を持ち、何らかの判断をしています。
ただ印象というのは、ある程度まではメイクや髪型、服装、姿勢、そして話し方などによって変えられるものでもあります。
ですが唯一、口もとだけは繕いようがないのです。メイクの施しようがない箇所。
ゆるい口もと、しまった口もと、歪んだ口、そして、何かあったわけではないのに、常に微笑んでいるように見える口もと。
その人の日々のありようをどうしようもなく刻んでいく場所なのです。
ちなみに政治家の口もとを見ていただくと、議員年数が上がるにつれて歪んでいくのは、それだけ清濁併せ呑むことが多いからでしょう。
FACEの仕事をさせていただくようになってから、介護や医療の現場、ものづくりの現場で精緻なものを扱っておられる方々と出会う機会が増え、その方たちの締まった口もとに見惚れることが度々ありました。
